Our sustainability approach

At IPCO, we have a responsibility to enable the transition towards a more sustainable planet and society. We know can make a positive difference through our technologies by enabling the large-scale processing of sustainable materials, and this is a cornerstone of our strategy for the future.

ENVIRONMENT

Climate impact

As a global industrial processing company, we negatively affect the climate through our supplier operations, our own operations and through the energy usage of our sold equipment at customer sites. We have climate reduction targets for 2030 and 2050, in line with the Paris agreement, and we are putting in place annual targets and actions to drive down our emissions.

Circularity

Steel represents the largest proportion of material we use in our operations. We promote circularity by addressing the resources we purchase and how efficiently we use them. Through our targets for 2030, we will increase the proportion of fossil-free and recycled materials, and minimize the amount we scrap from our own operations.

SOCIAL

Own workforce

As a responsible employer with over 600 employees, IPCO has had targets and carried out activities to address our priority areas of health and safety, gender equality and workers’ rights for many years. Employee well-being has recently been added as a new priority area. We are now working to refine our existing targets and identify new activities to address these four areas.

Supplier workforce

IPCO has a Supplier Code of Conduct, which outlines the labor, ethical and environmental standards we expect of our Tier 1 suppliers; they are asked to ensure the same of their own sub-suppliers. Our work in the coming years will focus on collecting more detailed data about workers throughout the value chain and developing a process to audit compliance with our Supplier Code of Conduct, especially in high-risk countries and suppliers.

GOVERNANCE

Business ethics

IPCO does business in most countries around the world, and we comply with applicable laws, regulations and standards. We work systematically and preventively to ensure each employee acts with integrity and high ethics in all business relationships. As well as our Code of Conduct, we have policies and e-learnings on anti-trust regulations and to prevent bribery and corruption.
