Marvin Petit-Homme, Global Manager of Residual Products at IPCO, talks to Hydrocarbon Engineering, a leading B2B publication covering latest downstream news, about his recent white paper entitled “Handling increasing yields from asphaltene/pitch streams”.

The whitepaper reviews the various residue upgrading technologies available for managing asphaltene/pitch streams resulting from BOTB processes such as residue phase hydrocracking and solvent deasphalting, and describes the different processes available for converting liquid pitch into a flowable, solid form for easier storage, handling and transportation. The paper also explores factors such as type of crude, crude slate, upstream unit operation, DAO yield, feed temperature and viscosity, all of which need to be considered in order to determine the optimal form of solidification.
